Description of Coaching

Coaching is a thought-provoking and creative process designed to inspire clients to maximise their personal and professional potential. It aims to facilitate the development of personal, professional or business goals and to develop and carry out a strategy or plan for achieving those goals. Coaching is not psychological, therapeutic, medical or legal advice.

Coach-Client Relationship

The coaching relationship is a partnership between coach and client, based on mutual trust, respect and accountability.

The coach will:

  • maintain the ethics and standards of behaviour established by the International Coaching Federation

  • provide support, feedback and guidance, and

  • encourage self-reflection, goal setting, and progress monitoring.

The client:

  • agrees to engage fully in the coaching process, be open, honest and committed to their own growth, taking responsibility for creating and implementing actions

  • understands that coaching is not therapy and does not involve the diagnosis or treatment of mental disorders, and coaching is not a substitute for professional advice. The coach makes no guarantees about outcomes and is not liable for any direct or indirect damages arising from coaching services

  • agrees that the coach is not and will not be liable or responsible for any actions or inaction or for any direct or indirect result of any services provided by the coach

  • acknowledges that coaching is a comprehensive process that may involve all aspects of their life, including work, finances, health, relationships, education and recreation. The Client agrees that deciding how to handle these issues, incorporating coaching principles into those areas and implementing choices is exclusively the Client’s responsibility.
